What is the UDT?
UDT – Office of Technical Inspection (in Polish: Urząd Dozoru Technicznego)
We are a state institution.
The UDT ensures the safety of technical equipment in Poland.
The main our objective is:
‘We support development. We care about safety.’
Where does the UDT operate?
The UDT’s head office is in Warsaw.
Address: 34 Szczęśliwicka Street.
Around 1,400 engineers work at the UDT.
Every year, the UDT conducts over 1 million tests.
The UDT has the following in Poland:
• 10 branches,
• 20 offices,
• laboratories.
Laboratories:
• perform tests,
• work at their own premises,
• may work at customers' premises,
• check and calibrate measuring instruments.
What does the UDT do?
UDT:
• inspects equipment, such as lifts and cranes,
• monitors repairs and modifications to equipment,
• inspects companies and individuals who operate the equipment,
• provides training to ensure safe work practices,
• conducts laboratory tests and issues expert reports (opinions),
• checks and calibrates measuring equipment,
• issues certificates to RES (renewable energy sources) installers,
• awards certificates to companies and staff working with F-gases (refrigerant gases),
• awards certificates to wind farm maintenance services,
• inspects electric car chargers,
• inspects natural gas or hydrogen refuelling stations,
• inspects and supervises equipment and installations in the nuclear power sector,
• checks whether equipment and installations are operating according to regulations
• cooperates with organisations in Poland and around the world.
By doing so, it improves safety.

This service is free of charge.
When is the service available?
• Monday to Friday,
• 8.00 am–8.00 pm,
• not available on public holidays.
How do I use the interpreter service?
You will need:
• device with a camera,
• internet access.
Visit the UDT website.
Select ‘System for the Deaf’ from the menu on the left.
Once you’ve clicked on it, you’ll be taken to the Polish Association of the Deaf’s website.
There, you’ll be connected to an interpreter.
Moving around UDT buildings
Rules for guests
Visitors cannot walk around the building on their own.
They must always be accompanied by a UDT member of staff.
The staff member:
• leads visitors to the correct location,
• provides assistance if required.
People with an assistance dog are allowed to enter the building.
Such people must also be accompanied by the UDT staff member.
